THe PERFECT END OF SUMMER COCKTAIL
I try to get the most out of strawberry quasi season, meaning even though it might not be prime season, the berries in the store are beautiful and not yet that weird out of season mushy mess. I never used to like fruity drinks before I tasted what a real fruit drink was. Frozen daiquiris with pre-made mixer is a whole other category of drink, and the sweet added sugar overpowers the strawberry.
Do we remember back to visiting Cruzan Rum back earlier in July of this month? The rum factory has done an amazing job of developing flavored rums, and the strawberry was new to me before the tasting at the tour. For an island that could never really grow strawberries they sure did get the flavor correct.
The spicy addition here is just enough to not make this drink overwhelmingly strawberry. It's a key factor and won't burn your tongue. Even people I know who don't like spicy, like my spicy jalapeño drinks. It adds a lovely flavor and with enough sweet from fruit you won't need a gallon of milk or a piece of white bread to cancel out the heat.
